INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE
Provided to you by TransLift Inc.
This learning experience will be part here, in the online classroom, and out in the field where the majority and practicum of the learning will take place. White Pine's E-Classroom has different sections that can be found in the navigator bar on the top of the page.* Once you have registered for classes you will be given a password to access our entire E-Classroom. Each lesson has a PowerPoint lesson, related video(s) for you to watch and an activity to enhance your learning. The sections are in order of learning which builds upon one another. This class is designed for you to learn at your own pace and revisit any section at any time. There are quizzes within the sections to gauge your learning throughout the course. Within the "Syllabus" tab, there is a “Coffee Break” section for you to ask questions to your instructor or other classmates. In the “Study Material” tab, you will find access to Quizlet and the activities within the section. Quizlet is a site created for you that has definitions of important concepts. There are games, flashcards, quizzes and other activities to help with studying. As a student you can create your own study material within Quizlet once you are registered. Lastly, as you and your instructor complete the modules stage documents from the syllabus, you will have access to them through google drive. Your instructor will email you when your module grading is completed for you see how well you did.
For your first assignment, you will need to find the “Student’s Page” tab under "Syllabus". Once you are in the page, there are directions for you to fill in forms prior to starting your training to better help your instructor and also requirements for TSA.
Most training facilities use the Robinson line of helicopters for instruction. SFAR73 requires students to be attentive to certain helicopter characteristics for safety reasons. This awareness training is given by White Pine regardless of the type of helicopter used. Verification must be issued that this training has been given prior to instruction in a Robinson Helicopter. A review of SFAR73 is given within the site along with a practice test. Once you have completed the test, your instructor will review it and verify your understanding. A Logbook entry will be given to you upon a satisfactory review.
*please note that ALL headings are active pages with information for students.
